And GW is essentially the same game as when Prophecies was released, of course you'll get bored sooner or later. Just take a break.

go to the farming forum and look at the new age solo monks author.. tookis and pudin are the ones who helped that author make the build....

so i hope to god your not talkin to us.

I never got bored in Prophecies. There was always SOMETHING to do. It's getting a little spread out now, and with so much more focus on the storyline than anything (like the n-scry-man said. I agree with most of his posts in most of the topics he posts in.) it really doesn't seem like playable content is cared about anymore. I don't give a crap if some pumped up Crag is polluting the water if I can't have fun doing it like it was with Glint. Farming is a thing I like to do, but it wasn't all I did. PvP has never been a main attraction in this game for me, but I do have a strange fascination w/ Pre-Searing. Like I'm drawn to it or something. After beating Nightfall once or maybe 1.5 or 2 times I think I'll go back there. Can't go wrong w/ Pre. Even THAT was more playable/fun than Cantha. Nightfall is like babysitting henchmen while they kill stuff :-(.

i completly agree with ya there bud.. and i think you would agree with me when i say that.. non of us hate or even have a problem with nightfall.. its awsome. but sadly its the same quest after quest stuff...

and with the game slowly just constricting us to a single "quest" minded attitude.. that really kills the variety of the game..

i really dont like to sound like im complaining.. but i hope some folks understand.. what pudin and and tookis and sidra and I are all getting at is.. we have played the game.. and we enjoy it.. but we cannot aggree with the decision to take away some awsome and truly amazing features of the game.. just to try and make the game "fresh"..

farming.. was a feature.. it was an awsome selling point. and a reason to come back for chapter after chapter.

running was the same aswell.. either running folks or chests..

with just those two alone.. the games replayability is through the roof..

I made a few topics on farming.. but i will be the first to admit.. it is not what it used to be.. its more tedious now..

anet did not help anyone with the aggro nerf.. how do you help by making me pull only 3 mele baddies at a time instead of 30?

the botters and chinese farmers have all the time in the world.. they didnt stop.

it only served to annoy the many people in this game that actually enjoy this AMAZING asset that only this game has..

when most folks chewed out us farmers for expressing our grief over the new ai updates.. they said "you people cant adapt" or somthing along those lines..

I did...we did.... but it still isnt the same... i for one.. miss the good old days.

i miss my old boring repetitive game.. i miss getting together with my 2 pals dirk and chris to go farm..

I dont care about missions and pvp.. i just care about fun.. and to me.. no matter how pathetic it sounds.. true fun was hanging out with my buds and mindlessly farming and bullshiting about random stuff..

and lastly. that is what i belive is truly killing this game.. the freedom to do what we want is gone. and with that freedom being killed.. so is the intrest of many gw players...

I DO find it rather interesting that arenanet goes to such lengths to keep us from making any profit or having too much flexibility in the way we play through the game. The factor to keep everything fair is there (which is why Pre rocks, nobody cares! Free for all!) and all, but just because a minority of players might be abusing the system to no end doesn't mean we are "exploiting" or "botting". If you want to get rid of people selling your gold on EBay, or botters, than BAN them, and make the game and its money worth something again :-) Honestly, I think it wouldn't be too hard to crack down on botters. Even if they buy accounts off the internet again or something, thats just more revenue for ANet/NCSoft. Just have a trigger, say, someone who is online for more than ~4 hours, stays in a zone, or the same 2 zones, and visits the same people in the same order. Something specific enough to not flag general people but general enough to identify people running programs. Once flagged, review their actions personally (even if you have the server just record their gameplay for a 20 minute period and then fast-forward through it) and then take action on them.

The least they could do, though, is to not care so much about penultimate balance as they should about keeping people happy along with keeping the game balanced. Some things might require drastic changes occaisionally, yes, but you don't have to completely destroy certain things in the name of "keeping it fair".

And if this post made any sense to you (the reader), then you get a kudos, and a kudos-bar, from me!

QFT! Do I get a kudosbar now? Do you have one with blackberryflavor?
I'm not a farmer, but I feel exactly the same. My favorite endgame has also been sacrificed for nothing. In my guild currently just one is still really happy, but he bought nightfall just for the nice maps.

I agree with you guys. I'm still only on my second mission in nightfall (hey... school is here ), and so far it has been great, however, I just know it will end like Factions ended. I had so much fun playing the game through once, but, once it was over, it was like... meh. You could farm alot more easily then too.

Ultimately what ruins the game the most for me is that its emphasis on equality has made variety inexistent. There are a handful of mods, skins, and greens which are worth anything now, making everything else (which is about 80% of the game's loot) worthless.

Finally, yeah, there was something about pre-searing. I don't know what, but I get a warm feeling just thinking about it.

I totally agree with you, i have 10 characters... i finished the game with ym necro, almost done capping all the elites and exploring the map.
my dervish is halfway through and i stopped why...because i dont feel like it.
All my non-nf characters went through prophecie and faction, as it was short and easy. But now...making all of them go through nightfall, +2 of them making them go through faction and prophecy, i dont feel like it. I like nightfall, it is a nice game...but been there, done that with the 2 first expansion...ITS ALL THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER. God i cannot stand those stupid quests anymore, i hate noob islands, i hate having to go through them again. I powerleveled every character except my very first one.

Bottom line, last expansion for me, im just sick of all those same quests/missions, i personally liked faction for the missions concept which brought some difference with the coop mission but now, it is back to the same thing. Its the same thing when a company change the bottle of a product, looks all new and fancy, but its the same product.

Just move to another game. problem solved :/

yes bored sometimes because of other real player

when you play a mission and someone suddenly decided to leave because he wanted to play with his heroes?

hero system is great but some ppl will screw the game

the problem isn't the nightfall but the kind of people playing with u

For me Pvp Is the main reason that I stay with the game. For those who like it, it retains far more appeal than storyline play. At the same time I like farming, I like getting nice stuff. I really don't see the point in making the game less free, less exploratory. Makes no sense to me at all. The other thing that is getting me down are heros. They've made a mess of HA with them and they really discourage player interaction in PvE, even within my guild. I used to dread Pugs, but now I miss them. At least when someone was a jackass I was left with a good story to tell and complain about. Now all I can do is whine that I forgot to turn Whispers off attack mode leading him to his death and the demise of the party. I rushed the game with heros the first time, but from now on its people.

That said, I do feel like there is a lot to mined yet. Elona is a big place, and in particular the later stages of the game provide a fun fow type experience. I personally look forward to combing over the desolation and the nightfallen realms with a finer toothed comb.

Wow, if the only reason you played was to farm or get chests, then you won't be missed. I'll never understand the attraction of farming for the sake of farming. You might want to look for a single player game like Oblivion that lets you explore and hoarde to your heart's content. Or something like WoW where you can just keep going. Guild Wars isnt this type of game, you tried to make it one, but it wasn't.

what should our only reasons for playing this game be?

i bet in your opinion they should be exaclty like yours.. and that is what? pvp? questing?

the game was great for what it offerd in all around content. now that content is being slimmed down into a quest/pvp mindset..

please show me in any statment by anet that this is what they want?

or for that matter any kinda statment by anet that the core level of play from prophecies was going to be changed in the nightfall release... please show me that..

this was a change from the base playstyle of the game that we had become used to and expected for the third installment.. in no way did anet say anything about them changing the ai that severly ahead of time.

They place emphasis on PvP a lot more now, and have these random master difficulty quests. Blah.

I just don't understand how ANet can be so intune with their community and have so many more people bitching about the game.

Maybe it's BECAUSE ANet reads so much into the people that they change so much just to make sure that nobody is doing anything "illegal" in their little virtual realm. Just as a serious question- Does WoW, Silkroad, MapleStory, or any other MMO/RPG get such continuous updates and changes, sometimes "nerfs"?

Come now, everyone knows people don't play an open ended game the same way..Sure there is a main storyline to follow, but after that people go about playing the game the way they enjoy.

I know if some of my favorite missions were removed, I would be at
a loss for what to do next after beating the game.

These farmers have found a niche in the game that they enjoy and apparently their fav way to play after beating the game has been made unplayable ...supposedly.

I find it hard to believe that guys like Narutoscryed have given up on finding a way to farm. I know good and well you have something up your sleeve that you have figured out to continue farming. Surely you wouldn't give up so quickly. But whatever way you find to continue farming, please keep the build among your farming buddies. Maybe we can move the chineese farmers back to WOW. lol

@Toxic, you said it to soon. A few of our regular posters had to finish it before your post could get any possitive response. By the time you made your post, Our Elite players were probably in the middle of beating it a second time. lol

I think the "nerfs" speak for themselves. If the designers of the game are trying to discourage certain ways of playing, and encourage other ways, I would say that is how they want their game to be played.

There are plenty of games out there that offer nothing more than a grind. The developers of Guild Wars had a vision: a game without a monthly fee, that didn't involve only grinding to be a good player. What was offered and what people wanted were apparently two different things. People wanted a WoW without monthly fees, so they created the grind for themselves. Yes everybody was level 20, but some people were more level 20 than others.

It seems my posts were also removed. Can I ask why?

I was agreeing with some Deleet's points which were valid and also suggested perhaps taking a break? What's wrong with that?

Now, if the mods want me to contribute. I myself am not bored and, if I am bored, will take a break and come back to GW later (or not...)

thanks for the nice and understanding post.

However Its not that we dont know how to farm nightfall.. in fact tookis pudin and myself. if we felt so inclined can farm the crap outa about the entirety of nightfall.

But there are many issues from the new update that affect that.

one being the aggro scatter. anet has now made it so that if more than three mele are on you at any one time.. at least one will drop when its health gets to low.. and will cycle in and out upon a fresh healthbar...

This in no way stops the utter ammount of farming that my buddies and me .. and in fact all of you are capable of... all it does to us is make farming now take wayyy longer for pulling wayyyy less...

i mean i have farmed it all.. uw, fow ,urgoz, troll ,hydras ,minos ,scorpions ,howlers jade brotherhood, mursatt, ... everything.. hell i have even farmed the bog scales that have chilibians lol..

And in fact i can still farm every one of those..

but take an experienced farmer. and say. "you used to pull in the 20's all the time.. but know you can only pull in the single digits".... "why are we doing this to you? .......cause we feel like it"

I mean.. how much fun is urgoz when i cannot pull a group of about 15 thornwolves.. then prot pudin so his crazy ass can run around and aggro about 20 more on me..

now i have to have him and tookis both stay wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back so that when the small ammount of thornwolves attack me.. they can fall back.. heal.. fallback.. heal... fall back ... heal.. withought dropping aggro on me and killing them... and i pretty much just sit there the whole time... untill the last one falls...

farming is not the issue.. the issue is that all the fun has been drained outa farming... that is why farming is dead.. because now people dont wanna deal with the hassle of dropping aggro.. and monsters that "take breaks"

that is not fun at all...

Aggro scatter only happens when you either have some form of AoE damage going on, or extremely rapid damage (like sliver amor). You can still pull lots of monsters, you just have to kill them in a way that won't scatter them. I can think of lots of ways to kill monsters that won't cause a scatter - yes it will never be as fast as the old methods of killing 30 monsters all at the same time - but farming isn't dead, just different.

Also casters and ranged attackers don't scatter, and lots of places have primarily these forms of attackers, so again maybe troll farming will never be viable, but there are lots of spots that were almost never farmed, that now offer new possabilities. However, the era of "cookie cutter" farming is most definately over.

im only bored with nightfall.

i played thru it on my necro, and after seeing the majority of the endgame items, probably wont repeat it.

im thinking of taking my warrior thru, just because i like the female warrior endgame armor, but the rest of the female warrior armor imho looks like crap. especially the sunspear. it looks like regurgitated kurzick armor.

i saw alot of regurgitated skins used in nightfall. and its dissapointing. especially in endgame items. ranger

all the endgame caster items suck stat wise.
energy+20? HA! i have an energy+30 staff.

the only incentive to replay would be an endgame item, and i have the only one i think is decent lol.

I respect what your saying. but i fear you are missing my point completly

you need to understand that i already know this.

Trust me when i say this.. i dont need tips on how to farm. or where to farm.. and i really dont need to know about what aggro does what..

I do happen to know just a TAD about farming.

I am simply saying.. that farming is now more boring because of these reasons...

post update i have farmed big, small, ranged, mele, caster, everything under the sun....

i am simply saying that after this update.. farming was much MUCH less fun.
